PHYSICS AT ANU

The Australian National University has the largest university-based physics program in Australia with over 150 full time academic staff, 100 general and technical staff and 100 postgraduate students. It has a pre-eminent national research position that is recognised internationally through its research achievements, competitive research funding and the honours awarded to its staff and students. Its income is now dominated by external, competitively-won research funds in a static or declining block funding environment. Consequently its future success will depend on additional support to attract and retain excellent people, and to provide key research infrastructure.
